Kieran Leofir

[[Character Sheet on DnD Beyond]]

Pallid Elf, Wizard
Cloistered Scholar

Description. Kieran has very pale skin, almost alabaster, and blue hair. His eyes are very light in color, almost milky white, but they are tinged with blue and silver when touched by the light of the moon.

Kieran was blessed with a strong yet supple physique, and with great health. His keen intellect is tempered by a wisdom unusual for his age, and his gentle manners make him welcome in most social situations.

At 103 years old, Kieran is an adult elf.

Parents.

Faelar (536 yo), a priest of the Moon Weaver. Kieran’s father feels he hasn’t been present enough in his son’s life, especially after the death of Syndra. He will help him out when he needs it, but only to clear the slate.

Syndra (dead), a knight guardian of the clan.

Siblings.

Vaeri (220 yo), female, a cult fanatic. Vaeri claims to be a priestess of the Moon Weaver, but she’s secretly a cultist of the demon lord Grazz’t. When Kieran was only a child, she tried to sacrifice him to the demon lord. When the moment to strike arrived, she did not have the heart to kill her little brother. Even though his life was spared, Kieran was heavily traumatized by the event, and Vaeri still feels guilt for it, though she has not renounced her loyalty to Grazz’t.

Myrrh (156 yo), female, a veteran

Airdan (133 yo), male, a bandit. While experimenting with magic, Kieran accidentally blasted his older brother with arcane fire. Airdan was heavily wounded, presumably dead. Not even the healing skills of his father could help him, so he was brought south, away from the Pallid Grove, to look for a cure. Kieran thought his brother was dead, but rumors say he joined a criminal cartel in the Menagerie Coast. And he has not forgotten what his little brother did to him.

Corym (98 yo), male, a bard

Namys (71 yo), female, a scout

Birth & Childhood. Kieran was the son of Faelar, priest of the Moon Weaver, and Syndra, a soldier in charge of the defenses of their clan. Since a very young age he displayed a keen mind and a gentle character. He had a relatively happy childhood, surrounded by a loving family and several siblings.

Unknown to him, his elder sister Vaeri was a follower of the demon lord Grazz’t. He cannot remember the details of what happened, but one day she brought him to a clearing in the forest, where a stone slab carved with runes was situated. His memories of the event are clouded in mist, but he remembers whispers, eyes filled with tears, and the voice of a kind man welcoming him. Telling him “it was time…”

From that day forward, he begun to develop an obsession with time, getting upset when his sibling where late for dinner, or having panic attacks when he could not be sure about hour of the day.

Teen Years. Noticing the high intellect of her son, and trying to keep his mind off this obsession with time, Syndra put her son in the cares of an arcanist, so that he may focus his mental energies on the difficult study of magic.

Kieran was an exemplar student, and the long hours spent pouring over arcane knowledge helped him keep his mind away from his obsession. Though when he rested in trance, he could still hear the voice of the kind man, sometimes he could even see him. A charming elf, with obsidian skin and silver hair. A six fingers to each hand. The charming elf encouraged him in his studies, and sent him a gift: knowledge of a spell to summon a “friend”, someone that would keep Kieran company and that would relate messages from the kind man.

Kieran used this spell to summon Zaman, a quasit demon bound to the demon lord Grazz’t. Zaman was a mischievous little fellow, always up to some trouble. Kieran was at the same time fascinated and preoccupied with the little demon, but more often than not allowed the creature to convince him to some sort of mischief.

This led to an accident involving great quantities of alchemical fire, and his own arcane magic, an accident that almost costed the life of his brother Airdan. This tragedy, coupled with the death of his mother while giving birth to his younger sister Nemys, made his father more aloof and distant, something he regrets to this day.

Kieran was encouraged to leave home, to continue his studies in a proper academy. Upon Zaman’s suggestion, he travelled to Xhoras and the capital of Rosohna.

Adult Life. Kieran joined the academy of the Marble Tome Conservatory, where he came into contact with advanced arcane techniques, and where he learned of Dunamancy. Finally his obsession had a name, and he put all his energies into the study of that arcane art. His talent soon caught the attention of an ambitious dark elf woman called Valanthe, a spy at the service of the Kryn Dynasty. Even though she seeks to exploit his talent, Valanthe seems genuinely interested in Kieran, and she’s his closest friend in Rosohna.

The Present. Kieran still hears the voice of the charming man sometimes, but many of the things he did not fully comprehend are starting to make sense to him. The charming man looked like a dark elf, and he clearly put him on his path to learn about Dunamancy. Everything that happened to him in the past seems to have been carefully planned by some sort of manifest destiny that awaits him, if only he could completely penetrate the secrets of Time. This is his dream now, to master Dunamancy, and become able not only to create ripples in the river of time, but to master its flow!

Personality Traits. I’m used to helping out those who aren’t as smart as I am, and I patiently explain anything and everything to others; There’s nothing I like more than a good mystery.

Ideals. Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. (Neutral)

Bonds. I’ve been searching my whole life for the answer to a certain question.

Flaws. Most people scream and run when they see a demon. I stop and take notes on its anatomy.
